Join us for a compelling evening with author and educator Derrick Lindow as he presents a lecture based on his book We Shall Conquer or Die: Partisan Warfare in 1862 Western Kentucky. Lindow sheds light on a brutal but often overlooked aspect of the Civil War—a deadly conflict behind the front lines that brought destruction to Western Kentucky and approached the very doorstep of Evansville.

This war within a war cost hundreds of lives, destroyed millions in supplies, and drew thousands away from the Union war effort. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore a vital and fascinating chapter of Civil War history.

Derrick Lindow is a U.S. history teacher from Owensboro, KY, and recipient of the 2015 Dr. Tom and Betty Lawrence National History Teacher Award. He also received the prestigious 2019 James Madison Fellowship for Kentucky. Lindow co-administers the Western Theater in the Civil War website, where he collaborates with other historians and authors to deepen understanding of this critical region in the conflict.
